Longview, Texas, January 15, 2021 (Global News Agency)-INDEVCO Plastics has innovated print-grade shrink-strapping film for multi-packs, providing a round plastic solution. Using 50% post-consumer recycling (PCR) resin, the finishing shrinkage can be fully recycled in store drop-off locations across the United States.

INDEVCO Plastics and Dow, a member of the Plastic Waste Elimination Alliance, jointly developed the film for food and beverage manufacturers that bundle products in multi-unit packaging. Dow PCR resin was first used for shrinkage applications in North America in October, and 70% of the PCR was from reliable local suppliers in the United States.

“In our collaboration with Dow,” explains Wayne Mashe, general manager of INDEVCO’s plastics department, “we focused on the right resin selection, film thickness and impact on the waste stream. The result is a high-performance finishing shrinkage agent, It not only meets market requirements, but also uses half of the virgin resin, which can be recycled and reused in other products."

Low-profile, high-strength finishing shrink film-available as ordinary rolls or printable rolls-has passed a series of mechanical, optical and processing performance tests. The unprinted film has no ink, allowing the product's packaging design to advertise itself, or the film can be printed by a packaging converter.

In addition to PCR, INDEVCO Plastics can also use post-industrial recycling (PIR) resins from its own waste stream to produce shrink strapping films.
