“It’s important to see the bridal gowns alongside the bridesmaid dresses,” says Stacy Hamm, stylist at The Bridal Party at Amsale. Since the bride’s wedding gown is the main event, you'll want make sure everything looks good together and that colors and fabrication complement the wedding dress.

While dusty blue is the predominant color, there's a range of shades and undertones that can occur in different fabrics. This is an important thing to consider if you're mixing and matching dress styles or materials for your bridal party.

“Dusty blue is a pastel blue color with cool, gray undertones,” Hamm explains. As with most dress colors, dusty blues can vary, depending on undertones, but the cool hue is typically always present.

Hamm says you can’t go wrong with a mix-and-match palette using different blue shades. “I often recommend that you keep the same undertone across all of the colors, so one doesn’t contrast more than the other and they all flow together,” she adds, noting that gray, ivory, blue steel, and textured slate all look good with dusty blue.

“The bridesmaids are usually responsible for their own dresses—though we have had generous mothers of the bride pay for all of the bridesmaids’ dresses,” says Hamm. Additionally, some brides might opt to put an amount of money toward bridal party dresses to help offset the cost.
