Lindum launches a new series of 30% recycled content pallet packaging-Food & Drink International

Before the introduction of a plastic tax next year, Lindum Packaging launched a series of new pallet packaging made from 30% recycled content.

The company is the UK's leading expert on pallet packaging and stability. The company stated that the product was developed to add more sustainable options to its existing collections and help the company avoid paying new taxes.

From April 2022, British companies will be taxed 200 pounds for every ton of plastic that does not contain the minimum recycled materials, and pallet packaging will also be taxed.

Lindum's new series combines nanotechnology to produce more environmentally friendly products with the additional advantages of nano stretch films. The series includes stretch film options for manual pallet packaging, packaging tape for machine and manual carton sealing, and pallet covers.

Rick Sellars, Lindum’s in-house packaging technology expert, said: “Plastic taxes are getting closer and these new products will help our customers eliminate or limit their packaging business’ tax liabilities.

Unlike 100% virgin polymer film, the new series includes recycled and pelletized polyethylene resin materials. They comply with OPRL's strict definition of "recycling" and are compatible with circular economy models.

Mr. Sellars added: "As the new tax approaches, we expect that the demand for recycled content packaging will increase significantly. Therefore, we recommend that customers take necessary measures to switch to recycled content or minimize the use of pallet packaging to reduce their responsibilities.

"This new series is not suitable for all of our customers. We are working hard throughout the supply chain to find ways for companies to reduce the number of original packaging. We recently launched a specially designed mobile pallet stability test laboratory. By analyzing each customer Using plastic stretch packaging, laboratories can significantly reduce excessive packaging, improve performance, and reduce the liability for new taxes."
